To celebrate the life and work of Edwin Morgan, Creative Scotland is funding two free places on the six-week Scottish Universities’ International Summer School’s ‘Text and Context: British and Irish Literature from 1900 to the Present’ course from 6th July to 15th August 2015. The Fellowship will take place in Edinburgh, and will cover the cost of all tuition, standard accommodation, most meals, the social and cultural programme, and full use of the facilities at the University of Edinburgh’s library and the National Library of Scotland.

Please note the Fellowship does not include travel expenses or spending money. In the past, winners have given a one-hour translation seminar to SUISS students interested in translation. Applications for this Fellowship are invited from professional translators with an interest in 20th century and contemporary Scottish writing.  Students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

The closing date for applications is 20th March 2015.  Applicants should indicate on the application form that they would like to be considered for the Edwin Morgan Translation Fellowship, and include a letter explaining their reasons for applying, together with any details of past and/or prospective publications.  We also require one of your referees to support the fellowship application, which is normally from the candidate’s publisher. Applicants for this scholarship do not have to pay the deposit.

Further information can be found on the SUISS website, which also contains the facility to download an application form.
